The two-year programme
Imbali Visual Literacy offers a subsidised two-year full-time Craft-Design Training Programme. Imbali is CATHS SETA accredited, and the training prioritises youth (18 to 35 years).
Participants attend classes daily, 9am to 3pm (Monday to Thursday), at the Imbali Studio in Newtown. They learn a wide range of craft and design skills, techniques and theory, as well as business and entrepreneurial skills. An Introduction to Facilitation course is offered to those who want to pass on the skills they have learnt.
The final months of the two-year programme are an incubator phase, in which participants develop, produce and market their own craft products with the aim of starting their own creative enterprises.
Once you have submitted this application form, Imbali will schedule an interview for you, so keep an eye on your email for the date and time. All interviews are held in person at the Imbali studio and cannot be done online. You will present your portfolio, do a drawing, and complete a short literacy and numeracy assessment.
